Heruka Chakrasamvara Mandala

This is one of the Chakrasamvara Mandalas from the Chakrasamvara Tantra. This Mandala from the Luipa tradition represents a floorplan of the celestial palace of Chakrasamvara. In the center of the Mandala is the figure of Heruka Chakrasamvara with his consort Vajrayogini.

Above the Mandala are three figures: Buddha Aksobia (Buddha of the Vajra family) in the center, Vajradhara on the left and Vajrasattva on the right. Below the Mandala are two Dakini figures: An ancient Nyingma form of Dakini on the left, and Vajravarahi (considered a form of Vajrayogini) on the right. The Chakrasamvara Tantra cycle is the source for the practices of Both Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini. It is a Mother Tantra and is considered along with the Hevajra Tantra, to be the source of the Tumo yoga teachings. It plays a very central role in the Naropa lineage of teachings.
